In 2017, the theme for the Business for Peace Summit was “Brundtland +30: Breakthrough Ideas for Futureproofing the Global Economy”. It marked the 30 year anniversary of the report, “Our Common Future”, published by the World Commission on Environment and Development, which was led by Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland. We were pleased to have Dr Brundtland attend the Summit and give the keynote address, “State of the Union Between Business and Society”.
The 2017 Summit served as a platform for intergenerational dialogue between CEOs and board members, investors and representatives from civil society, politics and academia. We were also honoured to have Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg will attend our Roundtable conference for the third consecutive year. Solberg is also the co-chair of the UN Advocacy Group for the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Amongst last year’s speakers were George Serafeim (Professor, Harvard University), Nisa Leung (Managing Partner, Qiming Venture Partners), Svein Tore Holsether (CEO, Yara), Hendrik du Toit (CEO, Investec Asset Management), David Boyd (Ph. D., Caltech), Martin Sandbu (Economics editorial writer, Financial Times), Yngve Slyngstad (CEO, Norges Bank Investment Management), Arif Naqvi (Founder and Chief Executive of The Abraaj Group), Egil Hogna (CEO, Sapa) and many more.
